Practical Ways To Attract The Top Employee Talent To Your Practice

Just how are you supposed to attract the best candidates to your practice? There isn’t a shortage of places for counselors and therapists to work, so why should they choose you?

To answer that question, you might consider the following methods of attracting them.

#1: Use your website

Your website is one of your greatest marketing tools, but it’s also one of your best sources for attracting employees. Include images of your happy workforce, as well as their personal testimonials on what they think about working for you, and include testimonials from your clients too, be they past or present. Your website also needs a blog, as this is your platform to showcase your expertise to potential clients, so add something if you haven’t already to prove your worth as an employer.

#2: Reach out to potential candidates

When you know you have a vacancy arising, take action, and consider where you might find the best talent. You may have people on your team who know of other counselors and therapists looking for a job, for example, so encourage referrals. You might also speak to colleges and universities, asking them for recommendations from amongst their counselling students. Check in on social media too, using Facebook and LinkedIn groups to network with those people within your industry who might be able to refer somebody to you. When you have contact details, send out professional looking recruitment emails throughout the hiring process, beginning with something to attract the attention of those people you may want to apply for your vacancies, and continuing this good practice when you’re communicating with them later.

#3: Have an open day

When you have shortlisted potential candidates, invite them to an open day at your practice. This is your opportunity to meet them first-hand, so ensure you make an excellent first impression in the way you interact with them. This is also the time for candidates to meet the other members of your team, so assuming your employees enjoy working for you, the candidates may come away with a positive feeling about what you can offer. Show them around too, offer them something to eat, and answer any questions. The more welcoming you are, the better impression your candidates will have of you.

#4: Work with your employees

We have already suggested ways your employees can help you, with contributions to your practice website, as well as word-of-mouth recommendations, and support on an open day. However, there is more they can do. You might encourage them to share their expertise on your website, perhaps with a podcast or a video, and you might do the same. Again, this will gain the trust of potential candidates checking your website. You might also ask your employees to leave positive (and honest) reviews on employee review websites, as many candidates will consider these when researching a prospective employer.

Finally

Of course, you need to be an employer worth working for, so aside from our other suggestions, ensure you are fair and respectful to both your clients and employees. Good word will spread about you as a consequence, and you may then have candidates knocking at your door!

So, we hope this article was useful to you, but share your opinions and ideas with us as feedback. Thanks for reading, and good luck with your next recruitment drive!
